The initial consultation is the integral first step in the Design Process. It is in this in-home meeting that we will get to know one another and I’ll begin to understand why you’re looking to hire a professional for design help.

We will discuss the pain points in your home, what you’re hoping to achieve with a renovation or decorating, and determine whether or not we’d like to embark on this project together.

You will receive a custom proposal for your project based on the information gathered during the initial consultation. Once approved, you will receive a contract outlining the terms of our agreement.

Both the proposal and contract will be viewed and approved or signed in the portal.

Common Purpose will meet with all decision-makers on the project to review design preferences, inspiration images, Wishlist items, and more. We will talk through what might be possible and establish a foundation for the design of your space.

If your project is a renovation, Common Purpose will propose at least one new layout and lighting plan for your approval. These plans will keep your lifestyle in mind while putting a strong focus on function.

We will review the layout and lighting plan together and Common Purpose will make any necessary changes.

While we are likely to have design ideas in mind when creating these documents, the actual design will come in the Design Concept step.

Common Purpose will prepare a design concept for your space. The concept will be inclusive of colour palette, materials, product selections, 2D elevations, and 3D renderings. This is the step where you really start to see your space take shape.

Once the Concept has been approved, Common Purpose will begin purchasing the items for your space. We will manage the timelines, delivery, and installation of all items. We will also perform regular site visits to ensure that work is being completed according to the plan outlined in the Design Concept.

The Final Layer consists of styling your home to design perfection. Common Purpose will create another presentation for you with accessories and decor that suit your space, and will aid in the installation and placement of these pieces.
